Moving from Canada to California was an excellent move. I did it 8+ years ago and never regretted it. Also, there seems to be some Quebeccerz in LA: http://www.quebecoisalosangeles.org/. If you need some real help I have connections with the Canadian Consulate in LA. Lastly, looking forward to going to work makes a huge difference. I’m weeks ahead of you and no regrets. Good luck!
